VESAK FESTIVAL🪔☸️

My favorite festival is vesak. Vesak festival is also known as Buddha Day and Buddha purnima. This is the most sacred festival in Buddhism, Celebrating the birth, Enlightenment and Passing away (Parinirvana) of Gautama Buddha on the full moon day in may.

On vesak day, Buddhists wear white clothes , go to temples and offer oil and flowers, make vesak lanterns and decorations, light lamps along the roads and around their homes, give dansal and making pandols. So vesak is a special festival for sri lankans.

On vesak day, I like to make vesak lanterns, among them, I like making bucket lanterns the most. When a small candle is placed inside the bucket it appears to be illuminated by the transparent paper in the bucket. That view is so beautiful.

And also many young people like to go to dansal and have fun with their friends. But vesak is a festival that should be celebrated with devotion in the heart. 

Most of the time, I celebrate vesak with my mother and father. We give food to animals on the road, decorate our home with lanterns and vesak decorations together, go to the temple and go to see pandals. On the way, we also stop at dansal we find. It is a very calm and peaceful experience.

That's why I like this festival so much.
